Toshio was a botanical ilustrator who is perhaps best known for his collaboration with Tomitarō Makino who authored an illustrated Flora of Japan in the mid-1900s. This gallery shows 63 pictures of camellias drawn by Toshio for a picture book enttiled Nihonsan Tsubaki no Zu (Illustrations of Japanese Camellias). This book was authored by the horticulturalist Yūgi Ishii and published in the 1940s. Toshio drew his picture subjects very accurately, typical of modern botanical artists.
